The average age for Thai teens to start having sex is 16 compared with 17 for Americans, but only 23% of them use condom, so they have a much higher number of teenage pregnancies, in a country where abortion is illegal.

It seems that Thailand has failed to follow practical measures to deal with risky sexual behavior among teens such as sexual education and safe-sex campaigns, and it is now time for Thai officials to stop asking teens not to have sex, but to teach them how to use a condom.

Bangkok Metropolitan Police launched just before Valentine's day 2007 a "four don'ts" campaign to prevent teen girls from having unsafe sex, including "Don't leave an opportunity, Don't expose your stuff, Don't give a green light and Don't disregard prevention", to which we could reply "Don't believe that Thai teenagers will follow your stupid rules, we are in 2007, and they want a sexual life as any teenager in the world".
